Is the 40 Hour Famine just another Fundraiser?
No it is not just another fundraiser as it is widely accepted in modern society. People don't regard it as something not important. It has been going for forty years now and people still believe it so clearly it is working. It does this by teaching the public what is it like to live in these third world countries, making everyone here sorry for them and in turn, generating money to give to people in these countries. It is a good cause and is definitely more than what it seems at first glance. The bible scripture Matthew 14:12-21 is like the 40 hour famine. It doesn't have many people, yet still makes lots of money to give to the vulnerable. Similar to the scripture, were Jesus feeds 5 thousand people with just 6 loaves of bread and 2 fish. It reads:
Jesus Feeds the Five Thousand
13 When Jesus heard what had happened, he withdrew by boat privately to a solitary place. Hearing of this, the crowds followed him on foot from the towns. 14 When Jesus landed and saw a large crowd, he had compassion on them and healed their sick.
15 As evening approached, the disciples came to him and said, “This is a remote place, and it’s already getting late. Send the crowds away, so they can go to the villages and buy themselves some food.”
16 Jesus replied, “They do not need to go away. You give them something to eat.”
17 “We have here only five loaves of bread and two fish,” they answered.
18 “Bring them here to me,” he said. 19 And he directed the people to sit down on the grass. Taking the five loaves and the two fish and looking up to heaven, he gave thanks and broke the loaves. Then he gave them to the disciples, and the disciples gave them to the people. 20 They all ate and were satisfied, and the disciples picked up twelve basketfuls of broken pieces that were left over. 21 The number of those who ate was about five thousand men, besides women and children.

How could the program improve?
Somethings that the 40 hour famine could do to improve is get more involved with larger groups of people such as schools or youth groups. Maybe put on a dinner night in a certain area for some supporters. They're well known they just don't have enough people backing them and actually doing the program. A quote from Jesus could be used to help the 40 hour famine. It reads "If you want to be perfect, go, sell your possessions and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven".
